How Your Shift is Calculated
The Calculation Steps
To find your net payable hours, the calculator follows a clear process:
- Calculate Total Shift Duration: It first finds the total time in minutes from your shift's start to its end.
- Subtract Unpaid Break: The number of minutes you entered for an unpaid break is subtracted from the total shift duration.
- Determine Payable Hours: The remaining minutes are your payable time. This is converted into two formats:
- Hours & Minutes: For easy reading (e.g., 7:30).
- Decimal Hours: For easier payroll calculations (e.g., 7.50).
