How the Duration is Calculated
The process for calculating the net duration between two times is straightforward:
- Gross Duration: The calculator first determines the total duration between the start and end times in milliseconds.
- Subtract Break: The specified break time (in minutes) is converted to milliseconds and subtracted from the gross duration.
- Convert to Hours: The resulting net duration in milliseconds is then converted into hours. This is presented in two ways:
- Hours & Minutes (HH:MM): A standard time format.
- Decimal Hours: A single number representing the total hours (e.g., 7.5 for 7 hours and 30 minutes), which is useful for billing.
Example Calculation
